Since the beginning of the war, parishes, convents, monasteries and other church buildings have been a beacon of hope, opening their doors to accommodate internally displaced persons (IDPs). They share their daily lives, joys and sorrows and help the IDPs to get back on their feet not only materially, but also mentally and spiritually.
Sr Bernadeta, superior of the Benedictine community in Lviv, gives an example: “We have had around 1,200 displaced persons passing through here since the beginning of the war in February 2022. Currently, we have 25 living here”. Many of them pray together, go to confession and receive the Holy Eucharist – some for the first time in their lives.
The situation in the country is extremely difficult, and the prices of electricity, gas and food have tripled. These selfless Priests and Sisters need our help to continue providing desperately needed aid – heating, daily meals, medicines and other essentials for displaced people who have practically nothing to live on as they are displaced.
€100 can help to provide fuel for heating to keep displaced families warm this winter / €50 can support the provision of daily essentials for displaced people.
